Rita M. (Abler) Diederichs, age 89, of Mount Calvary, passed away Monday, May 17, 2021, at the St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac.
She was born June 10, 1931, in the Town of Greenbush to William & Rose (Braun) Abler. Rita attended St. Cloud Catholic Grade School. On August 21, 1954, she married Melvin Diederichs at St. Cloud Catholic Church; Melvin preceded her in death on February 1, 2010.
Rita, her husband, and family farmed in the Town of Taycheedah until their retirement. The couple moved to Mount Calvary after retiring.
She was a member of St. Isidore Parish-Holy Cross Church and the Christian Women's Society.
Survivors include her six children, Joseph (LuAnn) Diederichs of Malone, Jean Brewer of Beaver Dam, Diane (Ken) Kraus of rural St. Cloud, Bill (Julie) Diederichs of Malone, John (Linda) Diederichs of Malone, Mike (Lannette) Diederichs of Malone; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren with the 10th one expected this month; one great-great-granddaughter; her sisters and brother, Lorraine Ballwanz of Fond du Lac, Marian (Ron) Freund of Glenbeulah, Don (Diana) Abler of Glenbeulah, Kathy (Al) Kempf of Anoka, MN; her brothers-in-law, Elmer Schmitz of Fond du Lac and Gerald Diederichs of Mount Calvary; her sister-in-law, Edna (Don) Nadler of Chilton; many nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Melvin; her parents, William & Rose Abler; her father-in-law & mother-in-law, Albert & Priska Diederichs; a son-in-law, Jim Brewer; her brothers & sisters, Julitta Schmitz, Wilfred (Marie) Abler, Bernice Diederichs, and Roger "Cheesie" (Mary) Abler; her in-laws, Bob Ballwanz and Jerome (Joan) Diederichs.
A Liturgy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 22, 2021, at St. Isidore Parish-Holy Cross Church, 308 County Road W Mount Calvary, WI 53057. Rev. Larry Abler, OFM Cap, a cousin of Rita, will officiate. Entombment will take place at the Shrine of Rest Chapel Mausoleum at Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery in Fond du Lac.
Visitation: Family and friends may visit with Rita's family at the church in Mount Calvary on Friday, May 21st from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again visitation will take place Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM.
Rita's family would like to express their heart-felt appreciation to St. Francis Home Assisted Living and Serenity Circle for taking care of her the past year.
A memorial fund will be established in her name.
