Rita P. Mischo, age 81, of North Fond du Lac, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2015, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac. Rita was born April 29, 1934, in the Town of Marshfield near St. Cloud; daughter of the late Engelbert & Mathilda "Tillie" (Will) Mischo. She had worked at Brooke Industries in Fond du Lac for 37 years; retiring on December 31, 2013. Rita enjoyed being involved in Special Olympics. A major achievement in her life was competing in the 1987 International Special Olympics in South Bend, IN where she received a gold and silver medal. She also received numerous medals at the Wisconsin Special Olympics level in wheel chair events. Rita was very much involved in ARC. She enjoyed spending holidays and gatherings with the Sippel Family. In addition to spending time with her family and friends, and participating in the Special Olympics, she enjoyed bowling, working on puzzle books and word searches and interacting in computer classes. Rita defied the odds her entire life. She was able to rise above her disability. After suffering a heart attack in 1992, the family was told she only had a couple months to live. Rita proved them wrong and eventually had successful heart bypass surgery 11 years later. Her strong will to enjoy life was an inspiration to those around her. Survivors include her sister, Donna Entringer of St. Cloud; a brother-in-law, Donald Steiner of New Holstein; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, Engelbert & Mathilda Mischo; her brothers and sisters, Fred (Betty) Mischo, Maleda (Vic) Baker, Howard (Helen) Mischo, Marvin (Jean) Mischo and Charlene Steiner; and two brothers-in-law, Harold Sippel and Zeno Entringer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30am on Monday, October 12, 2015, at St. Isidore Parish-St. Cloud Church, 924 Main Street St. Cloud, WI 53079. Rev. Larry Abler, OFM Cap will officiate. Rita will be laid to rest next to her parents in the St. Cloud Catholic Cemetery.
