Rita Vogel, age 90, of Reedsville, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2013 at her residence. Rita was born on May 21, 1923 in the town of Franklin, Wisconsin, daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Mullins) Doolan. She attended St. Patrick's Parochial School in Maple Grove and Reedsville High School, graduating with the class of 1940. She also graduated from the Hollywood Cosmetology School in Appleton in 1942. Rita was employed as a licensed beautician prior to her marriage to Joseph T. Vogel on April 15, 1952. He preceded her in death on September 14, 2012. Following their marriage, the couple farmed until retirement in 1985. Rita was a former member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and Christian Mothers of St. Patrick's, was a board member of the Friends of St. Patrick, belonged to St. Michael's Catholic Church and was a member of the Christian Mother's. She also was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader at St. Patrick's. Rita also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #199. She loved her Irish Heritage and hearing about where people came from. She could talk to anyone and always walked away with a new friend. Her faith was very important to her. Rita collected recipes and loved cooking and baking. At the age of 65, Rita took up the game of golf and enjoyed it. She especially loved spending time with her family. Survivors include two daughters and one son, Mary Jo (Todd) Musial of Green Bay, Mark (Lisa) Vogel of Reedsville and their family, Emybeth, Katie and Steven, and Janet (Bill) Reis of Oconto Falls and their family Michael and Sarah; two sisters: Donna Schlei and Lou Raether both of Manitowoc, one sister-in-law: Catherine Kabat of DePere, and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Rita was preceded in death by her husband Joe of 60 years, her parents, sisters and brothers-in-law: Athlyn (Cliff) O'Connell, Elizabeth (Frank) Herold, Marge (George) Gibeault, George Schlei and Allan Raether; a sister-in-law and Sarah (John) Hale; three brothers-in-law: Ed (Mary) Vogel, Bill (Lucille) Vogel, and Bill Kabat; and two infant sisters-in-law. Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 5, 2013 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Whitelaw. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Richard Klingeisen with burial in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Maple Grove. Friends may call at the Wieting Funeral Home in Reedsville on Friday morning, July 5, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. until (NOON) 12:00 p.m. Mass will follow at 1:00 p.m. in Whitelaw.
