Robert V. Blonien, age 86, of rural Mt Calvary, died on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at The Lincoln House.
Robert was born, January 13, 1940, at home on the family farm in Johnsburg, WI. He was the only child of Felix and Nellie (Gerner) Blonien.
Robert attended Holy Cross Grade School and Pete's University in Mt. Calvary. He graduated from New Holstein High School and Lakeland College.
Robert was employed at American Motors Corp. in Milwaukee prior to serving in the US Navy aboard the destroyer USS Forrest B Royal (DD872). Robert and his best friend, David Abler served in basic training together. After service, Robert was employed with the State of Wisconsin Dept. of Corrections for almost 37 years.
On April 30, 1966, Robert married Benice Muesegades at Holy Cross Church in Mt. Calvary. Robert was a member of Our Lady of the Holyland Parish-Holy Cross Church.
Robert valued greatly his family and was a devoted caregiver for his family for many years. Robert participated in sports for many years and especially enjoyed the camaraderie of the players.
He is survived by a brother-in-law, Henry (Sandra) Muesegades of Plymouth and his best friend, David Abler of Mt. Calvary.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Bernice on December 14, 2011; his daughter, Marie on January 31, 2008; his son, Michael on August 7, 2015 and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Raymond and Erna Muesegades.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 3, 2026, at Our Lady of the Holyland Parish-Holy Cross Church, 308 County Road W Mount Calvary, WI 53057. Robert will be laid to rest with his family in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
Visitation: Family and friends may call at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of service.
Military Rites will take place following the Mass.
Memorials may be directed to Our Lady of the Holyland Parish.
