Robert S. Freund, age 92, of Johnsburg was welcomed at Heaven's gate by his beloved wife, Evelyn and granddaughter, Michelle, after peacefully passing away on Thursday, April 21, 2016. He was born December 17, 1923, in the Town of Brothertown to Frederick & Amelia (Andrew) Freund. Bob attended grade school at St. Mary's Grade School in Marytown. On October 18, 1949, he married Evelyn Muellenbach at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marytown; Evelyn preceded him in death on April 12, 2013. He started his working career driving gas truck for the Malone Co-op. In 1967, he started working for St. John the Baptist Parish lovingly taking care of the church for 40 years. Bob was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg and the Holy Name Society. He enjoyed playing cards every day, even learning the card game Racko. Survivors include his four children, Eileen (Joe) Kraus of Malone, Marian (Steve) Critchley of Fond du Lac, Chris (Joe) Pufahl of North Fond du Lac and Robert G. (Sue) Freund of Fond du Lac; 11 grandchildren, John, David, Katie, Michael, Matthew, Nicole, Amy, Ryan, Kyle, Johnny and Drew; 11 great-grandchildren; his sister, Lorraine "Toots" Kern of Kaukauna; and his sisters-in-law, Evelyn (Lou) Pavlicek of Mountain Home, AR and Betty (Marvin) Kraus of Calvary Station. Preceding him in death were his parents, Frederick & Amelia Freund; his wife, Evelyn; a granddaughter, Michelle; his sister, Elfrieda (Edward) Thelen; his brother, Melvin (Dorothy) Freund and a brother-in-law, Joseph Kern. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6:00 PM on Monday, April 25, 2016, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg (N9288 County Road W, Malone, WI 53049). Rev. Gary Wegner, OFM Cap will officiate. Robert will be laid to rest next to his wife in the parish cemetery. Visitation: Family and friends may call at the church in Johnsburg on Monday, April 25th from 3:30 PM until 5:30 PM.
