Robert J. Nett, age 91, of Marytown, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2015, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton.
Bob was born on the Nett homestead on December 9, 1923, in the Town of Calumet to the late Nicholas & Emma (Heimermann) Nett. He took over the Nett homestead and operated it until his retirement in 1988.
He attended St. Mary's Catholic Grade School in Marytown. On May 21, 1946, he married Leona Muellenbach. Bob, along with the help of his wife and their children, farmed in the Marytown area in the Town of Calumet. Leona preceded him in death on July 9, 2011.
Bob was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marytown. He served on the Town of Calumet Volunteer Fire Department for 28 years. Bob had a passion for music since his teen-age years. He played in the Bashful Four and the Five "E"s. Bob was an avid Green Bay Packer's fan and Milwaukee Brewer's fan. Bob cherished family get togethers, especially the camp-outs.
Survivors include his four children, Judith Heus of St. Anna, Susan (Jack) Parks of Gilbert, AZ, Mary (Robert) Taylor of Watertown and Gary (Joan) Nett of Marytown; a son-in-law, Keith Berchem of Hilbert; 18 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren with another on the way; one great-great-grandchild; his sister, Marie Casper of Green Bay. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Nicholas & Emma Nett; his wife, Leona; two daughters, Mary Christine Nett and Barbara Berchem; his son-in-law, Allen Heus; a brother, Edward (Imelda) Nett; sister, Lucille (Edmund) Roehrig and a brother-in-law, Jerry Casper.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00am on Monday, October 19, 2015, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marytown (N10232 County Road G New Holstein, WI 53061). Rev. Gary Wegner, OFM Cap will officiate. Bob will be laid to rest next to his wife in the parish cemetery.
Family and friends may call at the Sippel Funeral Home in New Holstein on Sunday, October 18th from 2:00pm until 6:00pm. Visitation will also be at the church in Marytown on Monday morning from 10:00am until 11:00am.
