Robert "Bob" Stephanie, age 63, of rural New Holstein "Marytown" passed away with his family at his side on Wednesday, December 25, 2013, at St. Agnes Hospital following a short battle with cancer.
He was born October 20, 1950, to the late Alfred & Alfrieda (Schmitz) Stephanie. Bob attended St. John Catholic Grade School in Johnsburg and graduated from St. Mary's Springs High School in 1968. He served in the US Army in Vietnam.
On July 12, 1980, he married Nancy Diedrich at Holy Trinity Parish in Jericho.
Bob was employed at Saputo Cheese for 35 years until the plant closed. More recently he was employed with the Malone CO-OP and the St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac.
Bob enjoyed golfing, camping, casinos, yard work, playing cards, and following the Wisconsin sports teams. Most of all, he loved the time spent with his family and friends.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marytown and the Abler-Engel Post 454 American Legion in Mount Calvary.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy; his son, Rob Stephanie of Scottsdale, AZ; his daughter, Jamie Stephanie of Fond du Lac; his sister, Mary (Leo) Mueller of Yuma, AZ; his brothers, Jim (Rosie) Stephanie of Johnsburg, Tom (Dawn) Stephanie of St. Peter, Paul (Ginger) Stephanie of St. Cloud, and Joe (Carol) Stephanie of St. Joe. He is further survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leonard "Fritz" & Myra Diedrich of Malone "Garnett"; his in-laws, Joanne Diedrich and Jan (Doug) Goebel both of New Holstein, Tom (Chris) Diedrich of Kiel, Sharon (Barb Gorman) Diedrich of Fond du Lac, Ken (Sandy) Diedrich of St. Joe, and Carol (Jef) Voelker of St. Cloud; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, December 30, 2013, at St. Mary's Catholic Church N10232 County Road G New Holstein "Marytown". Rev. Joseph Coerber will officiate. Burial with Military Rites conducted by the Mount Calvary Legion will be held in the parish cemetery.
Family and friends may call at the Sippel Funeral Home 2618 Altona Avenue in New Holstein on Sunday, December 29th from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM and again at the funeral home Monday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 AM when brief rites will be held.
