Roger V. Karls, age 84, of Malone "Johnsburg", passed away Friday, September 02, 2016, with his family at his side.
He was born August 6, 1932, in Johnsburg to John & Louisa (Kohlman) Karls. Roger attended St. John's Catholic School in Johnsburg.
On June 24, 1953, he married the former Lyla Nett at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marytown. Roger, along with his wife and family, operated the family farm in the Town of Calumet near Johnsburg. He also had worked at Service Master and Sargento. His wife, Lyla preceded him in death on August 27, 2014.
Roger was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg and the Altar Society.
Survivors include his children, Larry C. Karls (Tommy M. Erickson) of Redding, CA, Gary (Mary) Karls of Chilton, Jo Ann (Bill) Schneider of Malone and Terry (Tammy) Karls of Malone; nine grandchildren, Christina Karls, Michelle Kramarczyk, Michael (LeAnne) Karls, Jessica (Shawn) Heimann, Jennifer (Ryan) Horst, Jason (Annie) Schneider, Justin (Miriah) Schneider, Courtney (Tom) Ockwood and Tyler Karls; two step-grandchildren, Lydia & Laurel Smith; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Anthony "Tony" Schmitz of North Fond du Lac; two sisters-in-law, Rose Birschbach of Fond du Lac and Lillian (Owen) Beck of Oakfield; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, John & Louisa Karls; his wife, Lyla; his daughter, Judy Karls; sisters & brothers, Viola (Alois) Forstner, Ludvina (Walter) Mueller, Clara (Francis) Dreifuerst, Florence (Albert) Mand, Ben Karls and his first wife, Dolores and his second wife, Esther, Clem (Evangeline "Vangie") Karls, Leona (Edwin) Schneider, Francine Schmitz and her first husband, Clarence Stephany, Angeline Karls, an infant sister; in-laws, Jerome (Florence) Nett, Donald Nett and Eugene Birschbach.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg (N9288 County Road W, Malone, WI 53049). Rev. Gary Wegner, OFM Cap. will officiate. Entombment will be in the Shrine of Rest Chapel Mausoleum at Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery in Fond du Lac.
Visitation: Family and friends may call at the Sippel Funeral Home, 1311 Thorp Street St. Cloud, WI 53079 on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 from 4 – 8 PM and Wednesday morning at the church in Johnsburg from 10 – 10:45 AM.
A prayer service will be held at the funeral home Tuesday evening at 8:00 PM.
