Roger E. Olig, age 87, of Kiel WI, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 12, 2026, at his home.

He was born January 24, 1939, in Mt Calvary WI, to Elmer & Teckla (Wagner) Olig. Roger attended Holy Cross Grade School and graduated from New Holstein High School in 1957.

Roger operated taverns in the Holyland area, including the Mt. Calvary Community Hall. He was one of the founding members of the Mt. Calvary Ambulance Service which began in 1973/1974. He was one of the original Emergency Medical Technicians. Roger was also a former member of the Mt. Calvary Volunteer Fire Department.

He was an avid Milwaukee Brewers fan and enjoyed playing cards, especially sheepshead with his buddies in School Hill; he was also a past state sheepshead tournament winner. There was never a family gathering that a card game didn't take place; he always carried a deck of cards with him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his partner, Karen Hahn, of Kiel; his five children, Rick (Lawrence) Olig of Harrison, Deb (Terry) Severson of New Holstein, Tim (Barb) Olig of Fond du Lac, Doug (Lisa) Olig of Fond du Lac, and Todd (Chris) Olig of Kiel WI; 12 Grandchildren, Alexis (Chandler) Olig, Chris (Emily) Boettcher, Aaron (Andrea) Boettcher, Kevin Boettcher, Brett (McKenna) Boettcher, Mike (Shay) Olig, Kate (Tyler) McArthur, Bryan Olig, Madeline Olig, Tyler (Taylor) Olig, Analiese Olig, and Lauren Olig; 16 Great Grandchildren: Riley, Brooks, Sutton, Wren, Jack, Emma, Addy, Micah, Tatum, Dax, Mari, Hallie, Ellary, Barrett, Charlie and Bryson. He is further survived by his sisters and brother, Betty Petrie, of Kiel, Gladys Mueller, of Fond du Lac, MaryAnn (Jim) Goebel, of Fond du Lac, Jerry (Rosie) Olig, of Mt Calvary, and Patty (Jerry) Connery, Prairie du Sac; his sister-in-law, Ruth Olig of Fond du Lac; many nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Elmer and Teckla Olig; his brothers, Francis, Jim "Corby", and Bill; and brothers-in-law, Larry Mueller and Lee Petrie.

Private services will be held at the Sippel Funeral Home in New Holstein with Joe Zenk officiating.
