Roger F. Schlaeger, age 69, of Valders, passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his family. Roger was born on March 8, 1946 in Oshkosh, son of the late John and Virginia (Strachen) Schlaeger. He was a graduate of Oshkosh High School, class of 1964. On October 2, 1977, he married Rita Ackley in Minnesota. Roger has a few jobs throughout his life. Most recently he worked at Federal Mogul. Roger and Rita also owned and operated Fox & Hounds in Reedsville for 11 years, and now own and operate the 5 Alarm in Reedsville. Roger was a member of the Sons of AmVets in Reedsville, enjoyed pool, card playing, shaking dice, golfing a round when he could, fishing, was an avid Packer fan, and loved being together with his family. He is survived by his wife of 38 years: Rita of Valders; children: Roger Schlaeger, Jr., Jeff Schlaeger both of Oshkosh; Danielle (Raymond) Mrotek of St. Nazianz, Tyrone Schlaeger of Valders, and Melissa (special friend Leroy) Schlaeger, of Manitowoc; grandchildren: Anthony Knapp, Tyler and Dezarae Schlaeger, and Gavin Schlaeger; his siblings: Ronald Schlaeger, Pauline Lindemer, Cecilia “Cissy” (Joe) Gelding; his father-in-law: Billy Joe Ackley, Sr.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Angie Schlaeger, Bill (Georgia) Ackley, Jr., Jim (Debbie) Ackley, Dave (Lynn) Ackley, Rose Waskow, Jon (Christine) Ackley, and Tina (Mike) Radandt; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and his cat “Buddy.” He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother: Jack Schlaeger, mother-in-law: Evelyn (Macki) Ackley, brother-in-law: Doug Lindemer, and sister-in-law: Jean Schlaeger.
