Roger P. Schneider

July 11, 1928 — June 13, 2025

Roger P. Schneider, Sr., age 96 years and 11 months, of Village of Harrison, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 13, 2025 at Cherry Meadows Hospice Center in Appleton, after complications from a fall.

Roger was born on July 11, 1928 on the home farm in Brillion, son of the late William & Lena (Weins) Schneider.  He was a graduate of Brillion High School, class of 1946.  Roger enlisted and served our country in the United States Army during World War II.  On October 1, 1952, he married his love, Elizabeth “Bette” Zipperer, with a concelebrated mass at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Whitelaw.   Upon his return home from the war, he was employed at Brillion Iron Works for two years.  He then worked as a licensed cheesemaker for 10 years with Eugene Olm at the Dairy Queen Cheese Factory.  Roger and Bette owned and operated the family farm for many years, and also worked at the Ariens Company, until his retirement.  That did not stop Roger from working however, and he went on to drive a petroleum truck and was the manager of the Brillion Co-op Hardware Store for 16 years.  He and Bette also owned and operated Schneider Rental Apts for 40 years and had a business in lawn care.  Roger served 9 years as an alderman for the City of Brillion.  He was a very faith-filled man.  He volunteered his time as a janitor at St. Mary Catholic Church in Brillion as well as served as an usher for 50 years.  Later on, he was a janitor at St. Paul Combined Locks Catholic Church and made rosaries as part of the rosary club.  He enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, bowling, polka music and dancing, traveling, cards, and puzzles.  Roger especially loved spending time with his wife, Bette, and their family.

Roger is survived by his wife of almost 73 years, Bette; their children and spouses: Diane (Gary) Wickersheim, Deb Schneider, Donna Steinke-Henne (Dale) Henne, Mike (Debbie) Schneider, Roger (Dawn) Schneider, and Doreen (Bob) Viking; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren with 2 on the way; one great-great-grandchild; one sister: Mary Rose Schneider; sisters-in-law: Nancy Schneider, Mary Ann Kletzien, and Susie Hebel; nieces, nephews, step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents: William & Lena (Weins) Schneider; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Frank & Mary Ann Zipperer; three sons-in-law: Keith Steinke, Dave Krueger, and Jerry Schneider; two grandsons: Matt Krueger and Kris Wickersheim; siblings: Jeanette (Leo) Pritzl, Clemens (Mary) Schneider, Kenneth Schneider, and James (Patricia); in-laws: Dorothy (Lewis) Resch, Pauline (Mike) Wallender, Berthold (Geraldine) Zipperer, Sally (Ed) Christian, Bob Kletzien, Alvin (Barbara) Zipperer, Frankie (Erma) Zipperer, and Bob Hebel; godchild: Nancy Behnke; and other relatives.

Private Family Services were held.  Military Rites were accorded by the American Legion Post 126 of Brillion and the United States Army Detail.

Memorials are appreciated to Holy Family Catholic School in Brillion.
