Roger N. Winkel, age 79, of New Holstein passed away Saturday evening, August 28, 2021, at the Ascension Calumet Medical Center in Chilton with his family at his side. He was born July 13, 1942, to Anton & Hildegard (Mertens) Winkel. Roger and his brother, Lee, took over the family farm in the Town of New Holstein in 1972. Roger and Lee ran the farm until their auction in 1998. In addition to farming, Roger also worked various jobs off the farm. Roger loved going to McDonald's and Terra Verde to socialize with his many friends. He loved to meet new people and especially spend time with his family and friends. Survivors include his sister, Barbara Gustafson of Chilton; his brother, Lee Winkel of New Holstein; Nephews, Gerald Gustafson of Carney, MI, Al (Kari) Gustafson of New London; Nieces, Sandy (Jeff) Miller of Plymouth, Yvonne (Mark) Herrin of Chilton; Great Nieces, Mallory (Chuck) Mueller, Angela Herrin: Great Nephew, Mac Herrin; Great-Great Nephews, Gunner and Luca Mueller. Preceding him in death were his parents, Anton & Hildegard Winkel and a Brother-in-law, Eugene Gustafson. A Liturgy of The Word Service will be held at 6:30 PM on Friday, September 3, 2021, at the Sippel Funeral Home 2618 Altona Avenue, New Holstein, WI 53061. Joe Zenk will preside. Inurnment will take place in the Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in New Holstein. Visitation: Family and friends may visit with Roger's family at the funeral home on Friday, September 3rd from 4:00 PM until 6:15 PM.
