Ronald "Ron" H. Kubale, Sr.

Ronald “Ron” H. Kubale, Sr., age 73, of Brillion, passed away at Theda Clark Appleton Medical Center on Monday, January 29, 2024.

Ron was born on June 12, 1950 in Manitowoc, son of the late Harold and Ovela (Luedtke) Kubale.  He attended Manitowoc Lincoln High School.  He worked at the Canning Factory in Manitowoc until he found out from his cousin that he could make a better living at the Brillion Iron Works.  So Ron moved to Brillion and started a lifelong career in the Core Room at the BIW.  Ironically, he also ended his career doing the same thing he started doing, and he then retired in 2015.  Ron always had part time jobs, some helping his father-in-law on construction projects, others at the Kasson Cheese Factory or the General Store in Reedsville, always keeping busy and helping others.  Ron married his love, the former Ruth Ratliff, on June 18, 1994.  She preceded him in death on July 29, 2020.  In his younger years, he took the kids fishing and smelting on all of the local lakes, later on in life would go up north camping, and enjoyed playing pool in the local establishments.

Ron is survived by his children:  Lisa (Tony) Meseberg, Ron Jr., and Tim (Andie); step-children: Brian (Sally) Lincoln, David Balthazor, Arlie Balthazor, Tom Balthazor, Cindy Halbach, and Sherry Derozier; step-son-in-law: Scott VanderVort; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister: Shirley Gadzinski; and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth; Ron Jr’s girlfriend: Becky Farley; step-daughter: Dawn VanderVort; step-son-in-law: Paul Halbach; sister and two brothers-in-law: Doris (Les) Last and Jim Gadzinski; and other relatives.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at the Pielhop Wieting Funeral Home in Brillion.  Officiating will be Rev. Nancy Zorn Micke.  Burial will be at Brillion Community Cemetery at a later date.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday morning at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
