Obituary

Ronald Thelen, age 81, passed away peacefully at Willowdale on Thursday, February 24, 2022. He was born February 18, 1941 in Marytown to the late Edward and Elfrieda (Freund) Thelen. Ronnie graduated New Holstein High School in 1959. He proudly served in the U.S Navy. On August 21, 1965, he married Sharon Will at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein. He was a member of Our Lady of the Holyland Parish-St. Mary's Church in Marytown. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, sturgeon fishing, musky fishing, and spending time with his family. He set a good example to his sons and other family members. Ron was a mink farmer and was involved in the industry his entire life. He was past president of Kettle Moraine Mink breeders association and was, at one time, president of the Marytown Moonshiners Snowmobile Club. Survivors include his wife, Sharon; his three sons, Dean (Renee) Thelen and their children, Emma and Wyatt, Bradley (Paula) Thelen and their children, Brady and Paige, Wesley (Anne) Thelen and their children, Alex, Alizabeth, and Isaac. He is further survived by his sister, Linda (Dan) Detroye; sisters-in-law, Janet Johnson, Connie Julka and Judy Heus; brothers-in-law, Gerry (Ellen) Heus, Michael (Deb) Heus, Kathy (John) Voelker, Sharon (Gene) Jonet, Pat (Jim) Schultz, Sue (Dean) Vollmer, Bob (Jody) Heus, Kris (Todd) Kultgen; close family friend Jim Klein and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, Edward and Elfrieda, his sister, Jean Miller; father and mother-in-law, Edgar and Shirley Will and Ralph Heus; sisters-in-law, Rose Schwetz and Linda Will, brothers-in-law, Darryl Will, Tom Johnson, Allen Heus and Joe Julka. A Liturgy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of the Holyland Parish-St. Mary's Church, (Marytown) N10232 County G, New Holstein, WI 53061 at 11:30 AM on Saturday, March 5, 2022. Fr. Randy Knauf OFM Cap. will officiate. Military honors will take place following services along with Legion Post #125 and the Calumet County VFW #3153. Inurnment will take place in spring in the parish cemetery. Visitation: Family and friends may visit with Ron's family on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until 11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Marytown Athletic Club.
