Rosemary "Rosie" J. Steffen, age 87, of New Holstein, was welcomed into her Savior's arms on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, with her family at her side following a brief illness. She was born June 2, 1931, in St. Anna to Henry & Seraphine (Perl) Turba. Rosie attended St. Ann Catholic Grade School and graduated with the Class of 1949 "The 49ers" from New Holstein High School. On September 20, 1951, she married Kenneth Steffen at St. Ann Catholic Church in St. Anna; he preceded her in death on May 1, 1997. Rosie was employed at the former Flexi-Clog Shoe Factory in New Holstein. Following her most important role of raising her children, she returned back to working at the Meat Locker in New Holstein for a few years and then moved on to working with the New Holstein High School lunch program until her retirement. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein, the Christian Women's Society, Daughter's of Isabella, the New Holstein American Legion Auxiliary and a life time member of Catholic Knights Society. Rosie is survived by her four children, David W. (Linda) Steffen of Elkhart Lake, Sandra (Jeffrey) Ditter of New Holstein, Dale Steffen of New Holstein, and Daniel Steffen of New Holstein; five grandchildren, Angela (Michael) Wirtz, Kari (Kevin) Blanke, Eric (Trish) Steffen, Nicole (Jason) Presto, and Jessica (Lucus) Petrie; 11 great-grandchildren, Connor & Jaden Wirtz, Kendra & Kylie Blanke, Collin & Johanna Steffen, Zoe & Ava Presto, and Owen, Ella, & Ethan Petrie; her brother, John (Joan) Turba; sisters-in-law, Sandra Steffen, Audrey (Bill) Mertens, and Luann Steffen. She is further survived by nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Kenny; her daughter, Sharon; two sisters, Betty (Eldridge) Schnell and Lucina (Erwin) Krebsbach; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Leander (Mary) Steffen, Randolph (Laverne) Steffen, Genevieve and her first husband, Frederick Wollersheim and her second husband, Alois Heimann, Wilmer Steffen, Hermes Steffen, Allen Steffen, Celestine Steffen, and Arlyn Steffen. A Liturgy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, December 9, 2018, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1724 Madison Street, New Holstein, WI 53061. Rosie will be laid to rest next to her husband, Kenny, in the Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery.
