Ruth M. (Bronk) Torrison passed away December 8th, 2024 at home at age 94. Daughter of Victor and Regina (Yach) Bronk. She was born at home July 3, 1930 in Manitowoc. She attended grade school at St. Mary’s in Manitowoc and was a 1948 graduate of Lincoln High School.
She married Glenn Torrison September 27, 1952 at St. Mary’s rectory in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death May 2, 1994. Although they lived on the same farm their entire married life, they quit farming in 1991.
Ruth started working at Kingsbury Brewery in 1948. In 1953, she had their first child and decided to stay at home to raise her family. Ruth also worked part time at Valders Veterinary Service for 38 years, retiring in 1999.
She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Valders and belonged to the Altar Guild, was a Lay Sacramentarian, money counter and a member of the Church quilters. She was also a member of HCE - Riverview Homemakers for 72 years.
Ruth loved her family and enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She tried to attend as many of their church, school and sports activities as possible. Ruth also enjoyed baking and cooking, playing cards and the trips she took. On those trips, she made friends who she corresponded with throughout the years. Ruth also liked listening to Lawrence Welk, country music, and a few soap operas on TV (The Young & the Restless and The Bold and The Beautiful).
Survivors are 3 daughters and 2 sons-in-law - Susan (Warren) Wenzel, Chilton; Beverly Torrison, Reedsville; Karen (Duane) Martin, Jackson, WI. Four grandchildren – Jennifer (Kevin) Lau, Chilton; Michael (Tina) Wenzel, Reedsville; Jared Martin and Ashley Martin of Jackson, WI. Five great grandchildren – Brooke and Ethan Lau; and Bree, Sawyer and Colton Wenzel. One sister: Bette Platten, St. Nazianz; 2 sisters-in-law – Cynthia Bronk, Stevens Point and Barbara Torrison, Adell, WI; and her godchildren: Dennis Lippert, Todd Torrison, Lawrence Bronk and Diane Gass. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive.
Besides her husband, Glenn, she was preceded in death by her son Thomas, her parents Victor and Regina Bronk, her father-in-law and mother-in-law Orin and Clara Torrison, 2 brothers Norman Bronk and Marvin Bronk; 1 sister-in-law Jean Ann Bronk; 2 brothers-in-law William Platten and David Torrison.
Ruth will greatly be missed by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ruth often said she was very fortunate to have 3 daughters (Susan, Bev and Karen) taking care of her while she was in hospice at home. The family would like to thank Dr. Richard Theobald and the hospice workers for all their help especially Kayla, Pam and Rachael.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 14, 2024 at Faith Lutheran Church, Valders. Officiating at the Service will be the Rev. Daniel Lyman with burial at Valders West Cemetery.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Faith Lutheran Church, Valders, from 9:00 a.m. Saturday, December 14, 2024 until 10:45 a.m.
Memorials would be appreciated in Ruth’s name to Faith Lutheran Church Pantry, Faith Lutheran Quilters, American Heart Association or St. Jude.
