Obituary

Sandra "Sandy" M. Kandler, age 72, of New Holstein passed away Monday, October 28, 2013, at the Appleton Medical Center. The former Sandy Seyfert was born July 13, 1941, in Lomira, WI to the late Herman "Dutch" & Florence "Flossy" (Hammen) Seyfert. Sandy graduated from Elkhart Lake High School. On May 2, 1964, she married James "Jake" Kandler at Zion Lutheran Church in New Holstein. Sandy trained as a nurse's aid at the Plymouth Hospital working in several different departments. Later on, she was employed at the Calumet Homestead in New Holstein where she remained until her retirement in 1988. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in New Holstein and the VFW Auxiliary in Chilton. Sandy loved to give to everybody & anybody; her heart was bigger than herself and loved to make others happy. Her wish was that Christmas would last all year long. She was famous for her fruitcake and peanut butter candy. She loved tending to her rose bushes, traveling, especially to Alaska and Europe, shopping, country music, and her beloved Green Bay Packers. Of all the things she loved and cherished, her grandchildren were first on the list. Survivors include her husband, James "Jake", of New Holstein; her two children, Kevin Kandler of Chilton and Kristine (Scott "Barney") Bonlander of New Holstein; her two grandchildren, Kayleigh & Devin Bonlander; her three sisters, Judith Westphal of Oshkosh, Katherine (James) Holz of Oakfield, and Susan Seyfert (Roger Goodwin) of Madison, and her brother, Lawrence (Bobbie) Seyfert of South Byron. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives, and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, Herman & Florence Seyfert; her step-father, Edward Seyfert; three infant children, Tim, Tom, and Cynthia; two brothers, Herman Jr. and Gerald "Jerry" Seyfert; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gilbert & Edna Kandler. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 1, 2013, at Zion Lutheran Church 1702 Van Buren Street in New Holstein. Rev. Dennis Sundell and Vicar Azor Cigelske will officiate.
