Sandra "Sandy" Jacobsen

September 8, 1936 — March 28, 2025

Sandra “Sandy” “Ga” Jacobsen, age 88, of Manitowoc, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, March 28, 2025 at Angelus Assisted Living.

Sandy was born on September 8, 1936, daughter of the late Vernon T. and Martha (Gardiner) Nelson. She was a graduate of Lindblom Tech High in Chicago, class of 1954. Sandy married Earl N. Jacobsen, Jr. in 1955. Even though the couple divorced in 1977, they did remain friends. Sandy worked as an accountant for a family-owned manufacturing firm in Illinois until her retirement. Her faith was very important to her, and she was very active in her home church, Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and School where she volunteered for many different activities. Sandy was the ‘unofficial queen of Hallmark’ for she remembered everyone and their special occasions. She also bowled in her younger years and enjoyed baking, especially her famous lemon squares. But above all, Sandy truly loved her family and the time she spent with them.

She is survived by her two children and spouses: Vern (Diane) of Manitowoc and Sharon (Bruce) Zabransky of Woodridge, IL; grandchildren: Shaun (Amy) Beauchamp of Colorado Springs, CO, Andrea (Steve) Walsh of Manitowoc, Matt (Kate) Bischof of IL, Daniel (Lauren Britton) Bischof of IL, and Joel Bischof of FL; great-grandchildren: Alex and Sophia Beauchamp, Benjamin “Ben” (special friend: Helene Mathias) and Bryce Walsh, Sam and Jake Bischof; family friend: Beth Bischof; and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, the father her of children: Earl N. Jacobsen, Jr.; and other relatives.

Private family services will be held at a later date at her home church, Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Chicago, IL.

Sandy’s family wanted to express their appreciation for the care she received at Angelus Assisted Living and the Aurora Hospice Care Team for all they did for Mom.  They also wanted to extend a special thank you to Pastor Jonathan Huehn from Redeemer Lutheran Church for visiting and offering her communion.
