Sarah Jane "Sally" (Beals) Steffes, age 95, of St. Cloud, passed away with family by her side on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at the Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac.
Sally was born February 20, 1927, in Fond du Lac to Elmer & Nellie (Jones) Beals. She attended Fond du Lac public schools and graduated from Goodrich High School in 1945.
Prior to marriage, Sally worked at Infant Socks in Fond du Lac. On June 17, 1950, she married Roland G. Steffes at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fond du Lac.
In 1949, Roland established Steffes Builders; Sally became the secretary & bookkeeper after they were married. She retired from the family business in January 2011.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Holyland Parish-St. Cloud Church and the Christian Women's Society.
Sally is survived by her nine children, Diane (Steve) Schneider of Fond du Lac, Marlene (Jeff) Gebhard of The Villages, FL, Jerrold (Jane) Steffes of St. Cloud, Jerome Steffes of McMinnville, TN, Janet (Steve) Nowicki of Plymouth, Richard Steffes of Ash Fork, AZ, Susan (Tom) Ake of Neenah, Allen (Patricia) Steffes of St. Cloud, and Charles (Jodi) Steffes of St. Cloud; 19 grandchildren, Stephanie (Dustin) Jones, David Schneider (special friend, Jordan), Laura (Eric) Fritz, Jessica (Scott) Dahlke, Eric (Linda) Gebhard, Lisa Gebhard (fiancé, Luke), Jerrod (Angie) Steffes, Jackie (Ross) Knauer, Jonathan (Kelcy) Steffes, Carley (James) Hoelzel, Holley Steffes (special friend, Jake), Emily (David) Schmidt, Elizabeth (Michael) Enright, Katherine (Matt) Laszkiewicz, Natalie Ake, Annie Steffes, Nicole Steffes, Ryan Steffes, and Molly Steffes; 16 great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law & brother-in-law, Shirley Steffes, Ralph (Darlene) Steffes, Marge Steffes, and Leonie Schnur. Sally is further survived by many nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Roland; her parents; her brother, James (Jeanette) Beals; her sisters, Marie (Lawrence) Hankwitz, Viola (Robert) Richter, and Delores Mae Beals; her father-in-law & mother-in-law, John J. & Amelia Steffes; her brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Angela (John) Burg, Dorlene (Orvin) Kleinfeldt, Myrtle (Francis) Hall, Cletus Steffes, Julian (Rosemary) Steffes, Paul (Martha) Steffes, David Steffes, and Larry Schnur; a nephew, Tom Steffes; and a niece, Joan Laufenberg.
A Liturgy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at Our Lady of the Holyland Parish-St. Cloud Church, 924 Main Street, St. Cloud, WI 53079. Rev. Paul Koenig, OFM Cap will preside and Rev. Larry Abler, OFM Cap will concelebrate. Sally will be laid to rest next to her husband, Roland, in the St. Cloud Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation: Family and friends may visit with Sally's family at the church in St. Cloud on Wednesday, November 23rd from 1:00 PM until 5:30 PM.
Sally's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. Strong, the St. Francis Terrace & Nursing Home, and the hospice staff that have been caring for her since October.
