Sarah Mary Thurwachter, age 69, of Chilton, a devoted wife and mother who loved gardening, antiquing and vintage car racing, died Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at the Villa Loretto in Mount Calvary, following a long illness.
Sarah was born July 22, 1947, the youngest of three children of John H. & Alice S. (Grimm) Bosma of New Holstein.
After her marriage to Michael L. Thurwachter in 1967, she lived in Chilton. She graduated from Holy Rosary School, New Holstein High School and studied music, a lifelong passion, at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
She enjoyed spending time in her garden, growing vegetables and flowers. She loved antiquing with her mother and hunting for bargains at garage sales and flea markets. Sarah enjoyed walking, playing pool and car racing at Elkhart Lake, especially vintage cars. When her husband and son built kit cars in the garage, she helped by doing the upholstery and other details. Sarah was always good with details, facts and figures, which is why she was so valued for her work at several local law firms.
Sarah is survived by her husband, Michael; her son, James Thurwachter and granddaughter, Shelby Thurwachter, all of Chilton; her brother, Harry (Ruth) Bosma of Arlington, TX; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, John & Alice Bosma and her brother, William Bosma.
A celebration of life for family and friends will be held from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Saturday, November 12, 2016, at Millhome Supper Club, 16524 Lax Chapel Road (corner of Lax Chapel Road & Hwy 57) Kiel, Wisconsin 53042.
Donations in honor of Sarah, may directed to the family for the American Cancer Society and Alzheimer Research.
