Sedona K. Freund, age 97, of New Holstein, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2015, at Calumet Medical Center in Chilton. The former Sedona Steiner was born June 3, 1917 to the late Jacob & Barbara (Meier) Steiner. On November 9, 1937, she married Herbert Freund at St. Charles Catholic Church in Charlesburg. Herbert preceded her in death on January 6, 1997. Sedona worked at Tecumseh Engine Products for 20 years. She volunteered at Salvatorian Center. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein, the Christian Women's Society and a member of the Catholic Knights Branch 118. Survivors include her five children, Loretta (Tony) Koenigs of Fond du Lac, Carol Koplitz of Oshkosh, Kathy Hanke of Charlesburg, James (Judy) Freund of Hudson and Roger (Cindy) Freund of Appleton; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren with another great-grandchild expecting in July; a brother, Otto Steiner of New Holstein. Preceding Sedona in death were her parents, Jacob & Barbara Steiner; her husband, Herbert Freund; two sons-in-law, Larry Koplitz and Leo Hanke; two sisters, Exilda (Edwin) Wagner and Marie (Harvey) Roehrig and her brother Isidore (Armella) Steiner. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 PM on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1724 Madison Street New Holstein, WI 53061. Rev. Harold Berryman will officiate with Deacon Pat Knier assisting. Sedona will be laid to rest next to her husband in the parish cemetery. Family and friends may greet the family at the church on Wednesday from 10:30 AM to 12:15 PM. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in her name.
