Sharon A. Schmidt

April 20, 1955 — September 23, 2023

Sharon A. Schmidt, age 68, of Hilbert, passed away on Saturday evening, September 23, 2023 at Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital.

Sharon was born on April 20, 1955 in Sheboygan, daughter of Marjorie (Wiegert) Krueger and the late Norman Krueger. She was a graduate of Chilton High School with the class of 1973 and went on to get her degree in nursing from UW Milwaukee School of Nursing. On June 16, 1979 she married Don Schmidt at the methodist church in Forest Junction. Sharon was a nurse for 44 years and worked at Appleton Medical Center, Theda Clark, Calumet County Homecare and Hospice and retired from Manor Care Nursing Home in Appleton. She was a former 4H leader, a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a member of Peace Ev. & Reformed Church in Potter. Sharon was an avid Wisconsin sports fan, especially the Milwaukee Bucks. She enjoyed sewing, camping with family and friends, canning, cake decorating and flower gardening. Sharon was always the winner at family card game nights and especially loved playing May-I and Dirty Board. Above all else, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband: Don Schmidt, Hilbert; their three children: Bryan (Julie) Schmidt, Cato, Tracey (Nick) Schmoll, Shawano, Andrea Schmidt (special friend Matt Gardner), Menomonee Falls; five grandchildren: Morgan and Ashley Schmidt, Logan, Lily and Lexi Schmoll; her mother: Marjorie Krueger, Appleton; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Paul (Beth) Krueger, Ashwaubenon, Alan (Mary) Krueger, DePere; her mother-in-law: Jean Schmidt, Sherwood; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Cindy (Jeff) Van Dyn Hoven, Kaukauna, Vicki (Kit) Indermuehle, Mukwanago, Tim Schmidt, Sherwood, Todd (Janet) Schmidt, Pulaski, Jodi (Joe) Lucas, Waukesha; one special friend: Caroline Pelkin, Black Creek. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her father: Norman Krueger; and her father-in-law: James Schmidt.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 1, 2023 at Peace Ev. and Reformed Church of Potter. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Dr. Marc Axelrod.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at the Pielhop Wieting Funeral Home, Brillion from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The visitation will continue Sunday at church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 3:00 p.m.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all the nurses and staff in the ICU at Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital, especially Kim, Amra, Jessica, Cory, Ashley, Amber, Nicole, Katherine, Tina and Judith, for all the care and compassion shown to Sharon and her family.
