Obituary

Sherry Shirley (Thimmig) Schneider, age 58 of Mt. Calvary passed away at Froedtert Hospital on Saturday January 10th, 2026, with her loving husband Dan, daughter Nicole, and son Aaron at her side. Sherry fought a long, courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, and while her family is heartbroken, they are comforted knowing she is finally at rest. She was a joyful woman who approached every day without fear and always had a plan for tomorrow.

Sherry was born February 15th, 1967, to parents Marvin and Shirley (Zimmermann) Thimmig. She spent her childhood in New Holstein, graduating from New Holstein High School in 1985. On June 1st, 1991 she married Dan at Hope Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac. Together they were dedicated members of their church community, serving on various committees, with Sherry notably dedicating her time to teaching Sunday school.

Sherry's entire life was defined by serving others and finding joy in the community. Whether she was camping, hosting spirited game nights with friends, gathering the family for a meal, or hitting the trails snowmobiling, Sherry was at her happiest when surrounded by people. She was a gifted crafter and was famous for her thoughtfulness; friends and family knew that receiving a card from Sherry meant a heartfelt message and a signature shower of confetti when the envelope was opened.

During her life, she worked at Tecumseh Credit Union, Dr. Tom Kraus Dentistry, the Villa Loretto, Chilton Middle School, and the New Holstein School District. However, her favorite "job" was caring for children. Known as "Momma Sherry," "Miss Sherry," and "Auntie Sherry" to everyone that new her, she was always available for "her" kids. You could always count on her to provide a safe space, an award-winning smile, and a hot meal.

Always prepared for anything, Sherry was the person who brought "everything - including the kitchen sink" when camping. Aunt Sherry made it her mission to attend at least one event per year for each child in her life, spending countless hours on bleachers and in auditoriums cheering on family and friends. Her heart was full of love and pride that she was helping raise such wonderful young adults.

Sherry is survived by her husband Dan; daughter Nicole (Tyler) Zehren; son Aaron (Brianna Klitzke) Schneider; and her mother Shirley Thimmig. She is further survived by her siblings: Brian (Teresa) Thimmig, Carrie (Tom) Lisch, Diana (Joe Jacquet) Ellenbecker, and Scott (Jenel) Thimmig; as well as her in-laws: Barbara (Steve) Knickel, Grace (Joseph) Wagner, Dave (Julie) Schneider, Gloria (Gary) Stenz, Yvonne "Bonnie" (Rick) Pfeifer, Karen (Ken) Steffes, Mike (Janet) Schneider, and Rick (Patti) Schneider. She leaves behind a legacy of love among her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, bonus children, extended family, and amazing friends.

Preceding her in death was her father Marvin Thimmig, a sister-in-law, Jeanie Thimmig, and her father-in-law and mother-in-law Alphonse "Hans" and Ella Mae Schneider.
