As Shirley always said: If you can’t come see me when I am alive, you sure as hell don’t need to see me dead!

Shirley A. Kanter, age 72, a Brillion resident, has traded life to be with her true love of 53 years in eternal peace.

Shirley was born on September 13, 1953, daughter of the late Robert & Violet (Rosenbaum) McVey. She graduated from Brillion High School, Class of 1971. On July 2, 1971 she married Daniel W. Kanter at St. Michael Catholic Church in Whitelaw.

Shirley worked as a butcher at Potter Meat Market & T&C Market, factory work at Ariens Company and co-owner for 25 years with Daniel at Kanter Logging.

In her younger years, she enjoyed cooking, always known for her chicken dumpling soup, ice skating and going to the cabin. She was a proud Breast Cancer Survivor and loved her family more than anything.

Shirley is survived by her daughters: Renee Kanter and Rebecca (David) Brault; four grandchildren: Sawyer Stubbe (special friend, Makayla Thede), Sydney (Cameron) Strutz, Abby Brault and Ethan Brault; two great grandchildren: Scottie Strutz and Baby Stubbe coming in December; four siblings: Gary (Gesine) McVey, Bryan (Anne) McVey, Brent (Dawn) McVey and Carol (Mike) Schuh; three brothers-in-law: Ron Kuchenbecker, Richard Buss and Doug Johns; and eight brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Dennis (Lyla) Kanter, Darwin (Robin) Kanter; Dean (Jane) Kanter, Dianne Carmody, Danette Kanter, Denise (Mike) Weber, Deborah (Tim) Karl and Dorothy (Patrick) Fitzgerald. She is further survived by her former son-in-law: Scott (Carol) Stubbe; Godchild: Mark Kuchenbecker; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends further survived.

She was preceded in death by her spouse Daniel, her parents, sisters: Beverly Buss, Sandra Kuchenbecker and Dawn Johns; a brother and sisters-in-law: Donald (Joan) Kanter, Delores (Jerome) Moeller, Darlene Balliew, Dorilyn Kanter; her father-in-law and mother-in-law: George & Mary (Burich) Kanter; and brothers-in-law: Michael Stetson, Jack Carmody and Mike Heimke.

Per Shirley’s wishes there will be no public service.
