Sr. Mary Joan Jacob, age 77, of Mt. Calvary, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at the Villa Loretta Nursing Home. She was born on August 17, 1936 in Edgeley, ND to the late John & Katherine (Jangula) Jacob. At the age of 15, she entered the convent of Sister Servants of Christ the King at the Loretto Convent in Mt. Calvary. She professed her vows in 1955. Sr. Mary Joan served at Manor St. Joseph in Edgeley, ND from 1958 to 1990.She then returned to Mt. Calvary at the Villa Loretto to share her ministry to the residents at the Villa Loretto Nursing Home and her weekends were spent with children of various needs that were referred by Fond du Lac County Social Services. Survivors include her eight brothers and sisters, Melonie (Jack) Anderson of Minneapolis, MN, Helen (Harold) Miller of Hemet, CA, Casper (Marty) Jacob of Hurst, TX, Joe (Sue) Jacob of Fargo, ND, Joan (Bill) Baragar of Grand Rapids, MI, Anthony (Michelle) Jacob of Edgewood New Mexico, Paul (Geri) Jacob of Minot, ND, and Mary (John) Jansen of Fargo, ND. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and the Sister Servants of Christ the King with whom she professed and administered her faith. Preceding her in death were her parents, John & Katherine Jacob; her brother, Michael Jacob; and her sister, Lenora Cottone. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6:00 PM on Monday, October 28, 2013 at St. Isidore Parish-Holy Cross Church 308 County Road W Mt. Calvary, WI 53057. Rev. Gary Wegner OFM Cap. will officiate. Friends and family may call at the Villa Loretto Chapel N8114 County WW Mt. Calvary, WI 53057 on Monday from 2:30-5:30 PM when brief rites will be held.
