Stella M. Schaefer, age 85, of Johnsburg, died unexpectedly Monday, April 18, 2011 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac. She was born August 25, 1925 in Johnsburg to the late Joseph & Margaret (Birschbach) Gilles. On September 30, 1947, she married Claude J. Schaefer at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg. The couple farmed in the Town of Calumet until retiring. Claude preceded her in death on February 18, 2005. Survivors include her two daughters, Rose Ann (Robert) Preissner of Malone and Donna (Richard) Kiesner of Chilton; her five grandchildren, Christopher (Roxanne) Preissner, Kelly (Rick) Groeschl, Wendy Becker, Dawn (Matt) Kienbaum, and Jeff Kiesner; 12 great-grandchildren, Kyle, Travis, Billy, Brandon, April, Trenton, Mathew, Gregg, Alex, Courtney, Lucas, and Morgan; two sisters, Viola (Robert) Nett of Fond du Lac and Dorothy Ryan of Eden and her brothers-in-law, Cyril (Mary) Schaefer and James (Mary) Schaefer both of Mount Calvary and Eugene Lefeber of New Holstein. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Claude; and her in-laws, Tom Ryan, Virginia Lefeber, Clarence (Stella) Schaefer, Francis (Bernice) Schaefer, Marcella Schaefer, Edna (Gilson) Sabel, Florence (Ray) Ziegelbauer, and Leona (Lawrence) Engel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 5:30 PM on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church N9288 County Road W Fond du Lac, WI "Johnsburg". Rev. Joseph Coerber will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 2:00 PM until the time of services.
