Obituary

Sylvester S. Pauly died March 4th 2010 at the age of 86. He was born on December 2nd 1923 to John Anton and Mary (Lefeber) Pauly. He graduated from St Claudius Catholic Grade School. On October 18th, 1947 he married Bernetta M. "Nettie" Schmitz and lived on the family homestead where he raised 11 children. Sonny enjoyed bowling, golf, sheepshead, cribbage, skat, puzzles, carpentry and working and tinkering in his workshop. He worked the family farm for many years while working for Arps and later Giddings & Lewis in Fond du Lac as a precision machine builder. He has touched the lives of many people with his sense of humor and his kindness. Sonny was a member of St Cloud Parish and was instrumental in the formation of the Consolidated Parochial Elementary School (CPES) Survivors include his wife, Nettie, and eleven children including Gary (Mary) Pauly of Greenleaf, Joyce (Ken) Schneider of Johnsburg, Joe Pauly of Fond du Lac, Steve (Rose) Pauly of St. Cloud, Mary (Dick) Fuhrmann of St. Cloud, Tony (Kay) Pauly of St. Ann, Tim (Sue) Pauly of Appleton, Cathy (Steve) Gertsch of Prescott Valley AZ, Laurie (Randy) Freund of Mt. Calvary, John (Carol) Pauly of Big Bend and Karen (Jeff) Isselmann of Richfield, thirty four grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, two sisters Antonia Sippel and Marina Voelker. Sylvester was preceded in death by his parents, and five siblings Polly Sippel, Mike Pauly, Delia Lauby, Ervin Pauly and Tina Burg We would like to thank the Villa Loretto nursing staff for their kind and compassionate care, all the family and friends who made his stay more comfortable. He will be deeply missed and joyously remembered by all. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM on Monday March 8, 2010 at St. Cloud Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Rev. Steven Kropp OFM Cap. will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Sippel Funeral Home 1311 Thorp Street in St. Cloud on Sunday, March 7th from 1-5 PM and again at the funeral home Monday morning from 9-10:30 AM when brief family rites will be held. A prayer service will be held at 5:00 PM Sunday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in his name.
