Sylvia E. (Hanke) Petrie, age 92, of Mount Calvary, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, October 18, 2024.

She was born September 21, 1932, in New Holstein to William & Rose (Koehler) Hanke. Sylvia attended school in New Holstein and graduated from New Holstein High School in 1950 as Salutatorian.

On June 25, 1952, she married Delmar Petrie at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein; Delmar preceded her in death on June 8, 2018.

Sylvia worked at the former Ray E. Woods Floral in Fond du Lac for many years until becoming the secretary for the parish in Mount Calvary where she remained until retiring.

She enjoyed her sewing, reading, and spending family time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Our Lady of the Holyland Parish-Holy Cross Site in Mount Calvary, the Christian Women's Society, and the Mount Calvary American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include her six children, Linda (Daniel) Stephanie of St. Cloud, Sharon (Daniel) Freund of Malone, Michael (Nancy) Petrie of Mount Calvary, Thomas Petrie (Special friend, Maureen Donovan) of Fond du Lac, Kevin (Kristine) Petrie of Malone, and Lois (Ron) Mashin of Mount Calvary; her grandchildren, Amy (Matthew) Goebel, Michael Stephanie, Nicole (Matthew) Schneider, Carrie (Zach) Bond, Heather (Aric) McArthur, Stacy (Matthew) Lisch, Jason (Stefanie) Petrie, Timothy (Becky) Freund, Marc (Krystal) Stephanie, Holly (Shawn) Semph, Lucus (Jessica) Petrie, Jared (Rachel) Petrie, Anthony (Megan) Petrie, Evan (Amanda) Petrie, Travis Mashin (Special friend, Ericka Hankerson), Seth (Richelle) Petrie, and Courtney Mashin; great-grandchildren, Isaac Bond, Hayden Lisch, Anna Goebel, Elizabeth Bond, Alaina Lisch, Ruby Stephanie, Emma Stephanie, Max Goebel, Ava Bond, Adelle Schneider, Vera Petrie, Amelia Stephanie, Carlee Stephanie, Alex Schneider, Owen Petrie, Finley Petrie, Aiden Petrie, Sylvia Petrie, Ella Petrie, Marie Freund, Parker Petrie, Otto Petrie, Ethan Petrie, Kalvin Semph, Maggie Freund, Violet Freund, Micah Petrie, Raegan Semph, Paige Petrie, Cooper Petrie, Jensen Mashin, and Graham Petrie. She is further survived by her brothers and sisters, Eugene Hanke, Eunice Scheberl, Rosemary Washick, Roseanna Palkovich, Angeline (Howard) Scheberl, Lloyd Hanke, and David Hanke; nieces; nephews; other relatives; friends, especially her good friend and caregiver, Lesley.

Preceding her in death were her parents, William & Rose Hanke; her husband, Delmar; her grandson, Joseph Freund; her great-granddaughter, Vivian Freund; her brother, Merlin Hanke; her sisters, Wanda (Eugene) Schuh, Violet Hanke, Darlene (Dennis) Bauer, her brother-in-law, Bill (Joyce) Petrie; and sisters-in-law, Bernice Hanke and Donna Hanke.

A Liturgy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Our Lady of the Holyland Parish-Holy Cross Site, 308 County Road W, Mount Calvary, WI 53057. Rev. Paul Koenig, OFM Cap will officiate. Sylvia will be laid to rest next to her husband, Delmar, in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation: Family and friends may visit with Sylvia's family at the church in Mount Calvary on Wednesday, October 23rd from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM.
