Tharcilla M. (Sippel) Matznick, age 83, of rural New Holstein "Marytown", passed away peacefully, at her home with family at her side on Tuesday, March 6, 2018.
She was born October 21, 1934, on the family farm in Marytown to August & Isabella (Lefeber) Sippel. Tharcilla attended St. Mary's Catholic Grade School in Marytown and graduated from New Holstein High School with the class of 1953.
On September 10, 1955, she married Willard Matznick at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marytown. Tharcilla worked at Kiekhaefer Manufacturing in the payroll department and milked cows on the family farm until going to Tecumseh Engine Products in New Holstein until retiring after 35 years.
She was a life-long member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marytown, the Altar & Rosary Society, Marytown Homemakers, the Malone Area Heritage Museum, and the Chilton German American Society.
Tharcilla played with the Marytown Girls Traveling Basketball Team, played the accordion and went to Hollywood every Wednesday night to go dancing. She also went to the Tourist Inn near Cleveland on Saturday nights and on Sunday evenings in Valders. Tharcilla enjoyed gardening and canning and drinking her wine. She volunteered for many years at the Marytown Picnic and working in the craft sale at the annual Harvest Fest in September at St. Mary Church.
Tharcilla is survived by her husband of 62 years, Willard; her four children, Debra Ann (Donald) Breit of Valders, Dennis Matznick of Marytown, Andrew Matznick of Newton, and Sandra (Mike) Schneider of St. Cloud; her seven grandchildren, Craig (Tami) Breit, Rachael Breit, Bradley (Gina) Breit, Tabitha Matznick, Uriah (Elizabeth) Matznick, Tyler Schneider, and Seth Schneider; five great-grandchildren, Jordan & Kinley Breit, Anaih Breit, Eleanor & Weston Breit; her brothers and sisters, Erma Danner of Glenview, IL, Lillian Sippel of Chilton, Harold (Marlene) Sippel of Appleton, Mary Anne (Howard) Meyer of rural New Holstein, Donald (Helen) Sippel of Elkhart Lake, Dianne (Ronald) Reese of New Holstein, and Jean (Gary) Anderson of Portage; her in-law's, Arnold Kabat of Newtonburg and Salva Jean Matznick of rural Kiel. She is further survived by nieces; nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, August & Isabella Sippel; an infant sister, Lucille and her sister, Bernice Simon-Schaefer and her first husband, Arland Simon and her second husband, Francis Schaefer; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ralph & Eldora (Schnell) Matznick; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dan Danner, Nathan Woolery, Carol Sippel, Alice Kabat, Ronald Matznick, Marlin Matznick, Carol (Herbert) Messman, Allen Matznick and two infant brothers-in-law, Vernon Matznick and Wallace Matznick.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Marytown, N10232 County Road G, New Holstein, WI 53061. Rev. Carl Diederichs will officiate. Entombment will take place at the Shrine of Rest Chapel Mausoleum at Ledgeview Memorial Park in Fond du Lac.
Visitation: Family and friends may greet the family at the Sippel Funeral Home, 2618 Altona Avenue, New Holstein, WI 53061, on Friday, March 9th from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation will also be at the church in Marytown Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM.
