Obituary

Tricia L. (Mathes) Halbach, age 48, of rural Kiel, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2019, at her home with her loving family at her side following a 19 year battle with brain cancer. Tricia was born June 16, 1970, at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital to the late Paul & Velma (Webber) Mathes. She graduated from New Holstein High School with the class of 1988. On December 8, 1997, she married Syl Halbach in Jamaica. In addition to farming with her husband on the Halbach farm in the Town of Eaton, she had worked at Tecumseh Engine Products as well as cleaning homes and babysitting in the surrounding area. Tricia also volunteered at the Christian Thrift Store in New Holstein. Tricia was a huge Packer fan and adored her cats. She loved to garden and just loved being outdoors. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in New Holstein and a participant with the Journey of Hope cancer organization. Tricia is survived by her husband, Syl; her two daughters, Rachel Halbach and Courtney Halbach; her brother, John Mathes; her sister, Susan Hauschel; her father-in-law & mother-in-law, Allen "Woody" & Christine Halbach; her sisters-in-law & brother-in-law, Kim (Brien) Martin, Tim (Emma) Halbach, and Cindy Halbach. She is further survived by nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul & Velma Mathes; an infant sister-in-law, Cheryl Halbach; maternal grandmother, Adele Webber; and her paternal grandparents, Walter & Nora Mathes. Funeral Services will be held 7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at Zion Lutheran Church, 1702 Van Buren Street, New Holstein, WI 53061. Rev. Azor Cigelske will officiate. Visitation: Family and friends may visit with the family at Zion Lutheran Church on Tuesday, March 5th from 2:00 PM until 6:30 PM. Following the church service, the family would like to extend an invitation to visitors to join them for a luncheon in the church fellowship hall.
