Valerie Jean Kalies-Schisel, age 65, of Brillion, passed on January 26, 2015 at Bellin Medical Center in Green Bay after a brief illness. Val was born on July 14, 1949 in Green Bay, daughter of the late Allan and Gloria (Roberts) Kalies. She was a graduate of Brillion High School, class of 1967. Val was employed at Rudy's Diner, the Reedsville Co-op, and retired from the Brillion Iron Works in 2010 after 38 years. She loved to read, enjoyed her book clubs, coffee time, and Facebook friends and games. Val adored and did many amazing things for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her children: Dale Schisel of Brillion, Dorie (Larry) Labitzke of Brillion, Brenda Schisel of Appleton, Melinda (special friend Tom) Voeltz of Reedsville, and Rebecca (special friend Jeremy) Schisel of Kaukauna; grandchildren: Joshua (Casie), Damon (Amber), Devan (Hailey), Cody (Jessica) Todd (Ivy), Kayla (John), Tabitha (Nic), Elizabeth, Thomas Jay, and John Jr.; and 12 great-grandchildren; father of her children: Kenneth Schisel; Siblings: Kathy Koffarnus of Kaukauna, Gary (Bev) Kalies of Reedsville, David (Debbie) Kalies of Brillion, Diane Mulvihill of Appleton, Jeffrey (Linda) Kalies of Brillion, Thomas Kalies (Special friend Lori Janke) of Askeaton, Stephen (Shelia) Kalies of Reedsville, and Robert (Amy) Kalies of Brillion; family friend: Nikki Brown; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son: Donald Schisel, one niece: Amber Doughty, and two brothers-in-law, Stephen Mulvihill and Steven Koffarnus, and other relatives. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Brillion. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Timothy Brandt. Burial will follow in Holy Family Cemetery, Brillion. Friends may call on Friday, January 30, 2015 at the Wieting Funeral Home, 215 S. Main St. in Brillion from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A rosary service will be led by Rita Heraly to conclude the visitation. The visitation will continue on Saturday at church, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Online condolences may be made.
