Valita (Fuhrmann) Feldner, age 97, of St. Cloud died December 1, 2013 at the Villa Loretto Nursing Home.
Valita was born on July 17, 1916 in St. Joe to the late Christ and Pauline (Petrie) Fuhrmann.
Valita attended school in St. Joe and as a teen began working as a house keeper, farm hand, and "nanny" during the Depression. Valita continued this work ethic for the remainder of her healthy life.
On May 20, 1940, Valita married Oscar Feldner at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Joe. They made their home in St. Cloud and lived there throughout their married life.
Valita loved to bowl, play cards, quilt, volunteer at the Villa and Blood Bank. She loved having coffee with her friends and helping anyone who needed help. Simply put, she loved life.
She was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church and belonged to the Christian Women's Society. She was also a Den Mother and belonged to several bowling leagues and card groups.
Survivors include her four children, Jim of St. Cloud, Paul of Wauwatosa, John (Renae) of McFarland, and Christine (Dan) Schirmer of New Holstein. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Kay (Mike) Thome, Mike (Jill) Feldner, Anne (Steve) Feldner Acosta, Mark (Janelle) Feldner, Scott (Sarah) Feldner, Eddie Feldner, Elizabeth (Cameron) Rex, Bryan (Amber) Feldner, Sarah (Kevin) Feldner Lindbergh, Colleen (Chad) Huber, and Joel (Jodi) Schirmer. Valita is further survived by 16 great grandchildren; one sister, Jeanette Ruh; one sister-in-law, Irene Feldner.
Valita was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Feldner on June 16, 1992; her parents; a daughter-in-law, Mary Feldner; a brother and sister-in-law, Elmer and Mary Catherine Fuhrmann; a sister, Estelle; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ray Wagner, Vic Ruh, Roma and Harry Engel, Eddie Feldner,Vic and Alma Feldner, Laura and Phil Hochrein, Marcella and Otto Krug, and Alfred and Ella Mae Feldner.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at St. Isidore Parish St. Cloud Church 924 Main Street in St. Cloud, WI 53079. Rev. Gary Wegner OFM Cap will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Cloud Catholic Cemetery.
Family and friends may call at the Sippel Funeral Home 1311 Thorp Street in St. Cloud, WI 53079 on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 from 4:00-7:30 PM and at the funeral home Thursday morning from 9:00-10:00 AM when brief rites will be held.
A prayer service will be held at the funeral home Wednesday evening at 7:45 PM.
A Memorial Fund will be established in her name.
The family would like to thank relatives, neighbors, and friends for their love and support of Valita throughout her life, but especially in later years when Alzheimer's disease robbed her of her ability to communicate with and enjoy the people she loved so much. A special thank you to Lisa Sippel for her loving care of Mom while she was at home, Comfort Keepers, Villa Loretto staff and Agnesian Hospice Home Care staff.
