Vernetta M. Stephany, 86, formerly of Johnsburg, died Thursday morning, July 15, 2010 at the Villa Loretto Nursing Home in Mount Calvary.
The former Vernetta Sippel was born January 14, 1924 in St. Cloud to the late Edwin & Rose Will Sippel. She attended St. Cloud Catholic Grade School. On August 28, 1944 she married Raymond A. Stephany at St. Cloud Catholic Church. Ray preceded her in death on January 3, 1980. Vernetta worked at Blanck's Supper Club in Johnsburg until her retirement.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg, the St. John Altar & Rosary Society and a member of the Mount Calvary Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her four children, Robert (Connie) Stephany of Greenleaf, Kathleen Abler of Malone, Peter (Arlene) Stephany of Hilbert and Joan (Jeffrey) Krueger of Malone; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; her sister, Vangie Karls of Fond du Lac; two brothers, Hubert Sippel and Howard (Marlene) Sippel both of St. Cloud; seven sisters-in-law, Elsie Sippel of Mount Calvary, Donna (Zeno) Entringer of St. Cloud, Peggy Sippel of New York, Mary (Francis) Abler of St. Peter, Marie Stephany of Fond du Lac, Adeline Stephany of Malone and Valeria Stephany of Fond du Lac and her brother-in-law, Ray Wagner of St. Peter.
Vernetta was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray; two sons, William and Matthew; a son-in-law, Duane Abler; a grandson; three brothers, Eugene Sippel, her twin brother, Vernon "Bud" Sippel and Harold Sippel and an infant sister, Laura Mae Sippel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 19, 2010 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church N9288 Hwy W Fond du Lac, WI "Johnsburg". Rev. Joseph Coerber will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Family and friends may call at the Sippel Funeral Home 1311 Thorp Street in St. Cloud on Sunday, July 18th from 3-7 PM and again at the funeral home Monday morning from 9-10:15 AM when brief family rites will be held.
A prayer service will be held at the funeral home Sunday evening at 7:00 PM.
