Verona Plate

Verona Plate, age 95 of Potter, died peacefully early Wednesday morning, November 28, 2018 at Willowdale Care Center in New Holstein. She was born on March 5, 1923 in the Town of Chilton, daughter of the late George and Martha (Hinz) Schroeder. Verona married Lester Plate on October 28, 1944 at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Chilton. She helped run the family's bulk milk trucking business and worked at several area businesses. Above all of the blessings in her life,  Verona treasured her family the most.  She loved to be around her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and constantly found ways to put their needs ahead of her own. Verona was always there whenever she was needed to lend a helping hand. She also enjoyed volunteering at Bethesda and Shepherds Attic in Chilton. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Rantoul and the Ladies Aid. Survivors include her children, Les “Buck” Plate, Kevin (Lois) Plate, Peggy (Sam) Schaff, her grandchildren, Brian Krueger, Eric (Jamie) Plate, Amanda (John) May, Jason (Kalyn) Plate, Craig (Stacey) Plate, Tyler (special friend, Stephanie) Plate, Nicole (David) Miller, Jesse Schaff (fiancé, Elena), Aaron Schaff (fiancé, Trina), 11 great grandchildren, a sister LaVerne Muenster, 2 brothers, George Schroeder and Gerald Schroeder.  Verona was preceded in death by her husband Lester on June 17, 1998, a daughter, Marilyn Krueger, a son Ronald, a brother Delmar Schroeder and a sister Marcella Federwitz. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rantoul. The Rev. Patrick Niles will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
