Victor "Vic" L. Steffes, age 91, of rural St. Cloud "St. Joe", died Wednesday, June 27, 2012. Vic was born May 30, 1921 on the Steffes homestead in the Town of Marshfield near Wolf Lake, to the late Herman & Gertrude (Pickart) Steffes. He attended St. Joseph Grade School in St. Joe. On May 30, 1947, he married Marion Will at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mount Calvary. Vic farmed with his father on the family farm. In 1946, he took over the farm. In addition to farming, he did trucking for the Glenbeulah Canning Co. plowed snow for the Town of Marshfield and Fond du Lac County. In 1971 he was elected as a Supervisor for the Town of Marshfield and in 1975 he was elected Town Chairman. He held that position for 22 years stepping down in 1997. Vic was also involved with the formation of the Mt. Calvary Ambulance Service. He was a member of St. Isidore Parish St. Joseph Church where he sang with the choir for many years and also served as a former parish trustee. Vic enjoyed spending time with his family, especially at Wolf Lake, enjoyed singing, dancing, turkey hunting, and deer hunting. Survivors include his wife, Marion; his three children, Julie (Jack) Deitte of Medicine Lake, MN, Mark (Sue) Steffes of St. Cloud, and Lisa Steffes of Franklin, GA; his grandson, Sean Steffes of St. Cloud; his granddaughter, Sara (Mike) Demerath of Green Bay; two great-grandsons, Benjamin & Maxwell Steffes; two sisters, Alice Heus of Marytown and Corinne Enders of St. Cloud; his brother-in-law, Eugene "Bill" (Pat) Will of St. Cloud, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Herman & Gertrude Steffes; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wendelin & Leona Will; a granddaughter, Mary Marie Steffes, and three sisters, Rose Koenigs, Ann Koenigs, and Hildegarde Steffes. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, July 2, 2012 at St. Isidore Parish St. Joseph Church, W620 County Road G. St. Cloud. Rev. Steven Kropp OFM Cap. will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in St. Joe. Family and friends may call at the Sippel Funeral Home, 1311 Thorp Street in St. Cloud on Sunday, July 1st from 1:00-5:00 PM and again at the funeral home Monday morning from 9:00-10:00 AM when brief family rites will be held.
