Obituary

Vincent Ebertz, age 86, of Mt. Calvary, passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at the Villa Rosa Assisted Living Facility. He was born June 17, 1935 in St. Joe, to William and Martina (Freund) Ebertz. He attended St. Joseph's Catholic School in St. Joe and graduated from New Holstein High School in 1953. He went on to Moraine Park Technical School to become a journeyman plumber in 1957. Vince enlisted in the National Guard in 1953, and was honorably discharged in November 1956. He then served in the Army Reserves until February 28, 1961. On Sept. 3, 1955 he married Roselyn Haensgen, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mt. Calvary. After marriage, they settled in their house in Puddlefort (Calvary Station) to raise their four children. As a young man, Vince helped on his family farm until he started his apprenticeship with Richard Abler Plumbing in 1953. When he became a journeyman plumber in 1962, he joined the J.F. Ahern Company in Fond du Lac. He worked with that company on and off until his retirement in 1997 at age 62. He was a member of the Plumbers & Steamfitters UA Local 400 for 55 years. After work hours, Vince and Rosie led busy lives. They were active in the Holy Land Fliers Snowmobile Club and were in a mixed bowling league, and Vince in a men's league, for over 20 years in Mt. Calvary. Vince enjoyed attending his children's and grandchildren's sporting and musical events. He was also an accomplished woodworker. His "Cathouse," also known as his workshop, was where he created many unique and beautiful birdhouses adding country touches like barbed wire, barn board and grapevines. Vince was well-known for his great sense of humor and ability to inject jokes into conversations. His familiar "Whistle" and "3 Kinds of Luck" jokes were retold numerous times to the delight of his grandchildren. Vince and Rosie were Snowbirds in Arizona for 23 years where they developed many new friendships. Vince's declining health led to them eventually moving to the Villa Rosa Assisted Living facility in Mt. Calvary in 2020. Survivors include his wife, Roselyn; his four children, Tom (Pam) Ebertz of Surprise AZ, Jim Ebertz of Belmont CA, Linda (Roberto) Alvarez of Chandler AZ, Steve (Nancy) Ebertz of Howards Grove; 5 grandchildren, Brent Alvarez, Jackson (Marisa) Ebertz, Haley (special friend Sam) Ebertz, Bennett Ebertz and Caden Ebertz; two brothers Alex (Lorraine) Ebertz of Fond du Lac, Leander (Elizabeth) Ebertz of St. Cloud, one sister Verena (Charles) Groeschel of New Holstein; he is further survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
