Violet M. Schrage, age 78, of Mount Calvary, passed away with her family at her side on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at the Villa Loretto Nursing Home in Mount Calvary.
The former Violet Weber was born December 25, 1935 to the late Valentine & Loretta (Gundert) Weber.
She graduated from St. Mary's Springs High School in 1953. On June 25, 1955, she married Charles A. Schrage at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mount Calvary. Her husband preceded her in death on November 17, 1997.
Violet had worked at Wells Mfg., Mercury Marine, Villa Loretto Nursing Home, and at Tolibia Cheese in Fond du Lac for 30 years to the day when she retired.
She was a member of St. Isidore Parish-Holy Cross Church in Mount Calvary where she sang joyfully with the choir and also belonged to the Christian Women's Society. Violet also served on the Holy Cross Cemetery Committee.
Violet loved researching genealogy, scrapbooking, and bowling at Heritage Lanes in the local league for many years; but most of all it was the interaction with the local community neighbors and friends that Violet looked forward to.
Survivors include her six children, Terry (Cheryl) Schrage of Fond du Lac, Rick (Linda) Schrage of Appleton, Jane Sabel of Mount Calvary, Jody Tautges of North Fond du Lac, Mary Mueller of St. Cloud, and Scott (Shelly) Schrage of Malone; 14 grandchildren, Tara, Carly, Travis, Cassidy, Eric, Jessica, Troy, Teri, Tanya, Brendt, Jacob, Kristen, Keifer, and Makenzie; seven great-grandchildren, Parker, Brayton, Graham, Khalil, Trevyn, Amorlei, and Gwyen; sister, Delores (Jim) Marx of Fond du Lac, three sisters-in-law, Georgine Weber of Mount Calvary, Helen (Sam) Schmitz of Mount Calvary, and Judy (Paul) Runkel of Brookfield; two brothers-in-law, Robert (Agnes) Schrage of Mount Calvary and Vernon Holzman of Greenbush. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, many friends, and close neighbors.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Valentine & Loretta Weber; her husband, Charles Schrage; a daughter, Sherry Schrage; a son-in-law, Edward J. Mueller; two brothers, Lawrence Weber and Wiliam Weber; and a sister-in-law, Margie Holzman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 7:30 PM on Friday, September 26, 2014, at St. Isidore Parish-Holy Cross Church 308 County Road W Mount Calvary, WI 53057. Rev. Gary Wegner OFM Cap will officiate. Inurnment will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Mount Calvary.
Family and friends may call at the church on Friday, September 26th from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
