Virginia R.
Bonlander
Dec 27, 1942 — Feb 3, 2025
Virginia R. (Daun) Bonlander, age 82, of rural New Holstein, passed away from a broken heart on Monday, February 3, 2025, at Ascension Calumet Hospital in Chilton with her children, Wendy, Scott, Joe, and Adam; daughter-in-law, Kris; grandson, Devin; family friend, Michelle; and Rev. Azor Cigelske at her side. She went to the Lord and to her husband, Gary, who just passed on January 25, 2025. She waited until all of her family were gathered at her side to say their goodbyes.
She was born December 27, 1942, to Charles & Magdalena (Rollmann) Daun. On the way to the hospital in Fond du Lac, a snowstorm prevented her parents from going any further and a gracious family welcomed them into their home so Virginia's mother could give birth.
Virginia graduated from New Holstein High School in 1961. On November 16, 1966, she married Gary Bonlander at St. Charles Catholic Church in Charlesburg.
Besides taking care of four small children and her home, she worked at various seasonal jobs, but the one she loved the most was working at the Silvermoon Mink Ranch where she had the best time laughing with friends. She also worked at the former Tecumseh Engine Products in New Holstein, where she loved to pick up the loose change laying on the breakroom floor.
In her retirement, Virginia enjoyed going on gambling trips on the bus with her husband, Gary, trips to Oneida for bingo, playing solitaire with real cards (until she discovered an I Pad).
Virginia was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein.
Survivors include her four children, Wendy (Steven) Wonser of Fond du Lac, Scott "Barney" (Kris) Bonlander of New Holstein, Joseph (Sherry) Bonlander of Forest Junction, and Adam Bonlander (fiancée, Amber Mott) of Chilton; nine grandchildren, Zachary (Stephanie) Wonser, Sophia Wonser (special friend, Ryan Tallberg), Kayleigh Bonlander (special friend, Emilio Acosta), Devin Bonlander (special friend, Rylie Johnson), Trisha Kilsdonk (special friend, Josh Spetta), Carissa Kilsdonk, Sydney Bonlander, Taylor Trossen, and Noah Abhold; a great-grandson, Jackson Munsch; her sister, Carol Northway of Medford; her brother, Carl (Beverly) Daun of rural New Holstein; her brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Bette Daun of rural Chilton, Shirley (Jerry) Lenz of Green Lake, Donald (Johanna) Bonlander of rural Chilton, Mickie (Terry) Clemenson of Oshkosh, Mary (Al) Mader of Hilbert, Dave (Julie) Bonlander of rural Newton, and Barb (Jim) Dhein of Kiel, and Gertie Bonlander of Chilton. She is further survived by her nieces; nephews; other relatives; and many friends.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Gary; her parents, Charles & Magdalena Daun; her sisters and brother, Marie (Bob) Gust, Gen Daun, Cookie (Bob) Keltesch, Rita Drake Polster and her first husband, LeRoy Drake and her second husband, Vincent Polster, Theresa (Tullio) Nucciarone, Dorothy (Tony) Nadler, Ben Daun; her father-in-law & mother-in-law, Joseph & Severa Bonlander; her brothers-in-law, Chuck Northway and Bob Bonlander; and her sister-in-law, Laurie "Shorty" Bonlander.
