Virginia "Ginny" Baumgartner, age 89, of St. Cloud, passed away Monday, May 3, 2021, at the Villa Loretto Nursing Home in Mount Calvary where she resided since December 2017. She was born February 4, 1932, to Edmund "Bert" & Leona (Feldner) Berenz. Ginny attended St. Cloud Catholic Grade School and graduated from New Holstein High School in 1950. On June 11, 1955, she married Celestine "Celly" Baumgartner; he preceded her in death on June 19, 1998. Ginny had worked at C.D. Smith after high school. Following her marriage, she waitressed at the Stretch and later on, at Petrie's Restaurant. Eventually, she began working at the St. Cloud State Bank until her retirement. She loved sewing; her children remember the many clothes she made for them. After retiring, she began doing ceramics at the Plymouth Senior Center with her sister, Loretta. Her love for sewing continued with quilting and all sorts of crafts. Ginny also loved cooking for family gatherings, playing cards and a wide assortment of games, bowling with friends and spending "kitty money" on weekend trips up North. Ginny led the Rosary at church and cleaned the candle holders monthly. Whichever priest came to visit her on first Friday of the month visits, received a loaf of freshly baked bread. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life. Ginny was a member of St. Isidore Parish-St. Cloud Church, the St. Cloud American Legion Auxiliary, the Wisconsin Bankers Association, and formerly served on the St. Cloud Village Board. Survivors include her four children, Barbara Tyler of St. Cloud, Cindy (Steve) Stevenson of Colorado Springs, CO, Richard (Nancy) Baumgartner of Shawano, and Lawrence (Janice) Baumgartner of St. Cloud; four grandchildren, Tiffany Tyler (Fiancé, Kay) Raeann (Jesse) Freund, Jenna Baumgartner (special friend, Nate), and Dominique Stevenson (Fiancée, Suzie); four great-grandchildren, David & Dakota Tyler and Jayla & Kalvin Freund; her sister-in-law, Dolores Lieker; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, Edmund "Bert" & Leona Berenz; her husband, Celly; her sister, Loretta (Jerome) Gahagan; her brother, Ellrith Berenz; father-in-law & mother-in-law, John & Elizabeth Baumgartner; sisters-in-law, Matilda (Clarence) Wollersheim, Harriett (Reed) White, Mary Ann (Donald) Temple, and Doris Baumgartner; brothers-in-law, John (Evelyn) Baumgartner, Victor (Isabelle) Baumgartner, George (Charlotte) Baumgartner, and Delbert Lieker. A Liturgy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, May 15, 2021, at St. Isidore Parish-Holy Cross Church, 308 S. County Road W, Mount Calvary, WI 53057. Rev. Gary Wegner, OFM Cap will officiate. Ginny will be laid to rest next to her husband in the St. Cloud Catholic Cemetery. Visitation: Family and friends may visit with Ginny's family at the church in Mount Calvary on Saturday morning, May 15th from 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM. PLEASE NOTE, THE VISITATION AND MASS IS AT THE CHURCH IN MOUNT CALVARY, NOT IN ST. CLOUD.
