Walter A. Casper, 89, formerly of Johnsburg, died Friday afternoon, December 31, 2010 at the Villa Loretto Nursing Home in Mount Calvary where he resided since April 2008. He was born September 25, 1921 in Johnsburg to the late William and Julia (Mueller) Casper. On February 6, 1946, he married Lois Herzog at St. Anna Catholic Church in St. Anna. He and his wife farmed in the Town of Marshfield near Johnsburg. Lois preceded him in death on January 13, 1995. Walter was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg. Survivors include his five children, Francis (Mary) Casper of Malone, Dorothy (Nicholas) Tasch of Chilton, Harold (Helen) Casper of Westfield, Donna Mae Rausch and her friend, Warren Niquette of New Holstein, and Mary (Craig) Forstner of St. Cloud; 16 grandchildren, Christine (Ken) Konen, Wayne (Nancy) Casper, Ann (Eric) Heus, Duane (Kelly) Tasch, Nicole (Kevin) Birschbach, Byron (Melissa) Tasch, Kelly (John) Bodinger, Melissa (John) Lavey, Cory Casper, Cody Casper, Conor Casper, Dawn Rausch, Danielle (Jon) Diedrich, Adam (Kelly) Forstner, Jennifer Forstner, and Michael Forstner; 14 great-grandchildren, McKenna, Coltin, Jacob, Samantha, Jack, Hailey, Zach, Dalthon, Madisyn, Mariah, Nick, Mercedes, John, and Dylan; his sister, Esther Pitzen of Fond du Lac; his sister-in-law, Elfrieda Meyer of St. Peter; and his brother-in-law, Roland Herzog of New Holstein. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Lois; a great-granddaughter, Mikayla; a brother, Armond Casper, and his cousin who lived with him during his childhood, Armond Mueller. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg, N9288 County W Fond du Lac, WI (Johnsburg). Rev. Joseph Coerber will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 2:00 PM until the time of services.
