Walter Wally Zimmermann, age 94, of Reedsville, died on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Century Ridge Assisted Living in Chilton. He was born January 21, 1916 in the town of Maple Grove, son of the late August and Augusta (Ziemer) Zimmermann. He attended the local elementary school and the Reedsville High School. He married Sophia Wordell on June 23, 1937 at St. John St. James Lutheran Church in Reedsville. They farmed in the town of Maple Grove until their retirement in 1980 and then moved to Reedsville. Wally served the Reedsville Cooperative Association as a Director for eighteen years and as President for eight years. He enjoyed fishing and spent many hours in his woodworking shop. He was a lifelong member of St. John St. James Lutheran Church in Reedsville where he served on the church council and various committees. He is survived by nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Sophia on May 13, 2003, two sisters and brothers-in-law Viola and Oscar Krueger, Verona and Leonard Schultz, two infant sisters Esther and Laura. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 14 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John St. James Lutheran Church in Reedsville. The Rev. Timothy Nommensen will officiate. Burial will be in St. John St. James Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wieting Funeral Home in Reedsville on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and again at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
