Willard J. Daun, age 81, of St. Cloud died Thursday August 5, 2010 from injuries sustained in an accident in the Town of Russell in Sheboygan County.
He was born December 12, 1928 in the Town of Forest to Marie Schmitt Daun and the late Hugo Daun. He served in the Army during the Korean War from 1950-1952.
On August 22, 1953 he married Darlene Seurer at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg. She preceded him in death on January 23, 1982. On November 30, 1984 he married Evelyn (Buechel) Berenz at St. Cloud Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on December 14, 2007.
Willard had worked at Kohler Co., Lefeber & Eiring and then with his sons at D&D Carpentry until he retired.
He was a member of St. Isidore Parish St. Cloud Church and the St. Cloud American Legion Harvey Blonigen Post 478. He was a former member of the St. Cloud Volunteer Fire Department. He had been active with the Boys Scouts in earlier years and had served on the St. Cloud Athletic Club.
Survivors include his five children, Deb (Dave) Weber of St. Cloud, Diane (Dr. Douglas) Fownes of Fond du Lac, Dan (Sharon) Daun of Sheboygan, Doug (Jill) Daun of Glenbeulah and Don (Mary) Daun of St. Cloud; four step-children, Linda (John) Kiehnau of St. Cloud, Pat (Dennis) Schaefer of Charlesburg, Tim "Bernie" (Jill) Berenz of St. Cloud and Joe (Barb) Berenz of St. Cloud; 11 grandchildren, Chad (Sharon) Weber, Corey Weber, Jenny (Nathan) Brandt, Adam & Samantha Winkler, Caline & Cami Daun, Christopher & Derrik Daun and Alisha & Jacob Daun; 12 step-grandchildren, Ian (Kelly) Fownes, Graham (Erika) Fownes, Jenny (Cory) Winig, Kari, Tom & Michael Kiehnau, Jodi & Tammy Schaefer, Marcus & Angela Berenz and Tyler & Jared Berenz; six step-great-grandchildren; his mother, Marie Daun of Mount Calvary; two brothers, his twin brother, Leonard (Arlene) Daun of St. Cloud and Harvey (Eileen) Daun of Chilton and his brother-in-law, Larry (Mary Ann) Merten of Johnsburg.
Preceding him in death were his father, Hugo Daun; his first wife, Darlene; his second wife, Evelyn; an infant brother; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tony & Florence Seurer and his sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Merten.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at St. Isidore Parish St. Cloud Church 924 Main Street St. Cloud. Rev. Steven Kropp OFM Cap. will officiate. Burial with Military Rites conducted by the St. Cloud American Legion Harvey Blonigen Post 478 will take place in the St. Cloud Catholic Cemetery.
Family and friends may call at the Sippel Funeral Home 1311 Thorp Street in St. Cloud on Monday, August 9th from 4-8 PM and again at the funeral home Tuesday morning from 9-10 AM when brief family rites will be held at the funeral home.
A memorial fund will be established in his name.
