William "Bill" Kandler, age 79, of New Holstein, passed away with his family at his side on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at The Waterford in Plymouth where he resided for the past 2 ½ years.
He was born December 20, 1945, in New Holstein to Gilbert & Edna (Maile) Kandler. Bill graduated from New Holstein High School in 1964. He received his bachelor's degree from University of Wisconsin Madison. Bill later received his master's degree from Milwaukee School of Engineering in 1993.
On August 25, 1967, he married Mary Dorn at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein.
For the majority of his working career, Bill worked at the former Tecumseh Engine Products in New Holstein; while working there, he obtained multiple patents on products he designed. He also worked temporarily at Arctic Cat, Generac, GE, and finally retiring from Caterpillar in 2010.
Bill was a member of St. Martin Lutheran Church in Chilton and Society of Automotive Engineers.
He was an avid bicyclist and outdoorsman. He participated in bicycle rides in 26 states and when he had extra time, he tended to the many trees he planted in their woods.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Mary; his three daughters, Kim (Craig) Sesing of Malone "Johnsburg", Jodi (Bill) Scheske of Milwaukee, and Lisa Espinosa (partner, Brad Abler) of Milwaukee; eight grandchildren, Jonathan (special friend, Maria), Jenna, Jacob, and Jacey Sesing, William, Benjamin, and Nathan Scheske, Salvador Espinosa; Iren Abler; his sister-in-law, Donna Rollmann; and his brother-in-law, Robert Dorn. He is further survived by nieces; nephews; other relatives, and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his brother, James (Sandy) Kandler; his sister, Shirley (Brian) Carey; his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Richard & Dorinda Dorn; his brother-in-law, Robert Rollmann; and his sister-in-law, Diane Dorn.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the Sippel Funeral Home, 2618 Altona Avenue, New Holstein, WI 53061. Rev. Thomas Schmitt will preside.
Visitation: Family and friends may visit with Bill's family at the Sippel Funeral Home on Saturday, November 1st from 1:00 PM until 2:45 PM.
Burial will take place at a later date.
Bill's family expresses their sincere appreciation to the caregivers at The Waterford who cared for him these past 2 ½ years and to Lily Hospice staff.
